Kettle Street Privacy Policy

Last updated:

Kettle Street is made and published by AssurePath Ltd (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what happens to your information when you play Kettle Street on any platform.

The short version

Kettle Street has no accounts, adverts, analytics or tracking, and your game stays on your device. The only time the game sends anything to us is when you write us a letter from the in-game Council app and press Send.

What stays on your device

The game keeps these on your phone, tablet or computer so you can carry on where you left off:

  • Your save: your character’s name and appearance, your money, your flat, your progress and everything else in your game.
  • Your settings: graphics quality, sound volumes, screen orientation and similar preferences.

None of this is sent to us or to anyone else. It is removed when you delete the game or start a new life in Settings.

The game also reads your device’s date and time so that Kettleby’s seasons and holidays match the real calendar. This is only used inside the game and is never sent anywhere.

Writing to the Council (feedback)

The game’s Council app (also in Settings → Write to the Council) lets you send us an idea, a problem or just a hello. If you write a letter and press Send, it is emailed to us through Web3Forms (web3forms.com), a form service that passes it on to us. The letter includes:

  • what you wrote, and which kind of letter it is;
  • the game’s version, and whether you’re playing the Android app, the iPhone and iPad app or in a browser;
  • your email address, only if you fill in “Reply to me at”, so we can answer you;
  • a performance report, only if you tick “Include how the game’s running”: your device’s model and browser details, its graphics chip, the screen size, the graphics settings and recent frame rates. “See what that sends” shows you the report first.

Nothing is sent unless you press Send, and your save and your in-game name are never sent. If a letter can’t be sent straight away (for example, with no signal), it waits on your device until it can.

We use letters only to improve the game and to reply to you. We don’t share them with anyone else, and we delete them when we no longer need them. Web3Forms handles them for us as a service provider, under its own privacy policy, and is sent the letter over an encrypted connection.

Performance reports and email

Settings also has a Performance report you can share yourself (for example, by email). It contains the same details as the report above and nothing that identifies you.

If you email us, we’ll use your email address and whatever you include only to reply to you and improve the game. We’ll keep it only as long as we need to for that, and we won’t share it with anyone else.

Backups

If your device backs up app data automatically (for example, Android’s backup to your Google account, or iCloud Backup on an iPhone or iPad), your save may be included in that backup. That backup is run by your device’s maker, Google or Apple, under your account and their privacy policy. We can’t see or access it, and you can turn it off in your device’s settings.

Purchases

If you buy Kettle Street, or buy anything inside it, the payment is handled entirely by the store you’re using (Google Play or the App Store). We never see your card or payment details. The store tells us only that a purchase was made, so the game can unlock what you paid for. See the store’s own privacy policy for how it handles your information.

Children

Kettle Street isn’t aimed at children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect information from children.

Third parties

The game contains no advertising, analytics or social media services. The only other services it talks to are the store you got it from (Google Play or the App Store) and, when you send a letter, Web3Forms. We don’t sell information to anyone.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law (UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), you have the right to ask what information we hold about you, and to have it corrected or deleted. The only things we’re likely to hold are letters you’ve sent from the game and emails you’ve sent us, and we’ll delete them if you ask: email us, and if you can, tell us roughly when you wrote and what about. If you’re unhappy with how we’ve handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

If the game ever starts handling information differently, for example by adding crash reporting or cloud saves, we’ll update this page and change the date at the top before that version is released.
